Citizens of Rio de Janeiro join World Car-Free Day

Citizens of Rio de Janeiro joined to the World Car-Free Day today, September 22. The news website R7 published some pictures of the participation. Many people left their cars at home and enjoyed the day to cycling or walking through the city. This is the third time that Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil, participates in this event.

Rio +20

The Rio +20 Conference, taking place in the area of the Port of Rio de Janeiro from May 28 to June 6, 2012, is thelargest global conference on environmental preservation, sustainable development and green economy will set a new standard for the industry. More than 100 presidents of the Republic and prime ministers will be present.

Rio +20 will take place two decades after another epoch-making conference, Rio 92.  The idea is to define an international model for the next 20 years based on the preservation of the environment, but focused on improving the quality of life through the eradication of poverty through social programs, the green economy and sustainable developmentfor a global governance.

Eric Clapton will do two shows in Rio in October

On 9 and October 10, the Rio de Janeiro hosts one of the most renowned singers, Eric Clapton. In total, the show go through Sao Paulo, Porto Alegre and Rio.
The last time that the musician was in Brazil, he toured with the disco Reptile (2001). Now,  the repertoire of songs  is from Clapton(2010), his latest album, and hits of his career. Tickets are on sale at the site Livepass. Prices range from R$ 140 to R$ 950.

Walking Rio

It happens on August 21 in Rio, the Walking in Nature. The action is part of the overall activities of the organization Anda Brazil, which aims to disseminate and encourage the practice of popular sports  in Brazil. The match will be in Delfim Moreira St with Visconde de Albuquerque, at 8 am,  the return will be at  5 pm.

Rio should have 27% more hotel rooms in two years

The Valor Economico newspaper found last Friday in the Rio de Janeiro hotel is 3548 rooms under construction and other projects licensed in 3560 to be delivered by December 2013. Paul McCartney Sings today In Rio

Excellent news for Beatle maniacs. Singer and songwriter Paul McCartney performs today at Rio de Janeiro in the stadium Engenhão, neighborhood of the Engenho de Dentro. McCartney has   two presentations in Brazil, yesterday (22) and 23rd May, ending his Latin American tour that has begun on May 9th in Peru.
